We all have moments in our lives where we feel this way. We fall short, we feel insignificant, we can only see our failures, our weaknesses, and wonder where the strengths are. Well I found the solution!!
Prayer. Not the short "say it in your mind as you go" prayers, but deep meaningful prayer.
This morning I got down on my knees, (I usually pray in the shower) and fervently asked for help today. Help to complete a workout, to overcome this slight cold that I had, to accomplish just what I needed to. Help to feel and know that I am worthy of my Heavenly Father's love.
Well here is how this prayer was answered. First I worried about my workout, what was I going to do? My dear sweet Nathan said, "Mom ride your bike while I eat lunch in your room." Mission Accomplished!! Next, I was tempted to sit and relax while he napped a bit. But the Spirit spoke and told me to read my scriptures. I finished Isaiah!! And then I turned to the Ensign for this month and read President Monson's message. In short this is what I needed to read:
Have a good attitude
"Whatever you do, you need courage. Whatever course you decide on, there is always someone to tell you that you are wrong. There are always difficulties arising that tempt you to believe that your critics are right. To map out a course of action and follow it to an end requires some of the same courage that a soldier needs. Peace has its victories, but it takes brave men and women to win them."
Ralph Waldo Emerson
"Courage is required to make an initial thrust toward one's coveted goal, but even greater courage is called for when one stumbles and must make a second effort to achieve.
Have the determination to make the effort, the single-mindedness to work toward a worthy goal, and the courage not only to face the challenges that inevitably come but also to make a second effort, should such be required. Sometimes courage is the little voice at the end of the day that says, 'I'll try again tomorrow."
President Monson
Just what I needed to read! I can only take this a day at a time. I am not perfect, I fail at times, but I am brushing myself off, and renewing my courage to face the next day. Sometimes we need only look at a day, instead of the whole future. The Lord will lead us, if we trust in Him. He will guide you, and help you with your goals, aspirations, dreams, and steps! I am learning this truth, and grateful to be learning it. One day at a time!
